This low, wide chest adds to my series of reclaimed redwood bedroom furniture.  The salvaged material is distinct for the dark streaks that run through its otherwise clean, straight grain.  Solid maple, dovetailed drawer boxes.  Concealed, soft close slides.  As pictured th piece is 20″ deep x 34″ tall x 60″ wide.  Custom dimensions are available. This leaning desk and shelving unit turns any wall into an office.  Solid walnut construction, two slim drawers.  90″ tall x 44″ wide x 26″ deep.  A matching flat-file/work table/rolling cart is in the works to complete the workspace of the graphic designer that inspired this design.

Weathered cedar reclaimed from historic NYC watertanks form a slim headboard and sturdy rails. Simple steel legs keep it feeling light.

This custom piece started with a client that had her eye on a bed with drawers from a big-box retailer that looked right, but didn’t quite work right for her.  I was able to offer solid walnut selected for its character and uniqueness, a handrubbed oil and wax finish,  a split and angled headboard, and a metal bumper rail above the drawers.  Tailored to work.

Who doesn’t need more storage?  The low profile structural deck of this bed allows huge rolling bins to park neatly below.  Shown here in a king size, there is practically an entire closet underneath.

The redwood is reclaimed from NYC water tanks.  A simple oil and wax finish shows off its beautiful natural red tones and the erratic black streaking gained from years of exposure  to the elements.  The bin pulls are custom made from salvaged leather strap and solid brass fasteners.

Ellen was looking for a small slender cabinet for her Upper West Side apartment.  The contemporary space left me searching for complimentary materials.  Then this reclaimed cedar caught my attention.

Like the material utilized in some of my past projects, the first life of these yellow cedar boards was spent overhead as the staves of one of NYC’s iconic rooftop water resevoirs.  Unlike previous projects, the inside face of the staves are featured here.  While the exterior of the water tanks is worn grey by the sun and wind, the pieces featured in the doors of the Ellen Cabinet show how the years of direct contact with water give the resilient wood a snake skin like texture.  Framed by a clean black case and finished with hand-cast brass knobs, this unique checked and scaled surface is ready for it’s return to the outside world.

This bed celebrates the simple beauty of a great batch of antique yellow pine.  The design focused on leaving the historic material unaltered wherever possible.  Each wide plank  is presented as an individual while they work together within the piece.  The size of the boards provides an excess of strength and stability, as well as a nice 12″ surface on the top of the headboard for a reading lamp, alarm clock and your favorite display pieces.

The wood is sanded smooth to the touch, but with a careful eye towards preserving the character and texture of its orignal rough sawn surfaces.  The structural deck of the bed is kept to a minimum at only 1.75″ thick, preserving 8″ of clearance underneath–space  we plan on filling with custom rolling bins for extra storage.   These features add up to an unfussy and casually beautiful centerpiece for any bedroom.

Inspired by the mid-century classics, this walnut shelving system can be set up in many configurations.  Just pull the pegs, move the supports up or down and choose what components you want at what heights.  The package pictured here was designed as a media console, but the possibilites are endless.  Cabinets, desks, drawers, wardrobe hooks… If you can think of it, I can work it in!

The antique yellow pine for this set was taken out of an industrial building being renovated near my shop in Bushwick, Brooklyn.  The design stemmed from request for a solid table without legroom interruptions, composed of as few pieces as possible. The equation was simple: ‘T’ shaped legs are a good way to keep a table’s understructure out of the way of knees… I only needed two of those, plus one beautiful top, adding up to the Three Piece table.

Budget conscious and beautiful, this simple queen bed is done completely out of reclaimed spruce.  Like all REASON beds, it eliminates the need for a box spring, freeing up valuable space underneath for storage.  We are going to add four large rolling drawers under this one to take advantage of every square inch.
